Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - May 7, 2009

David Regan

American League
1 Matt Wieters BAL C A 7-for-19 in last five games and no, we're not worried about him having just one HR.

9 Matt LaPorta CLE OF A- We'll see how much playing time he get and how he his LHP, but guessing he's here to stay.

10 Justin Smoak TEX 1B A- .472 in last 10 games and .353/.467/.565 with 1.6 EYE. Now if he could only mix in a few SBs.

17 Carlos Santana CLE C A- 5 H and 6 BB in last 4 games leaves him at .250/.404/.574 w/ 6 HR and 1.4 EYE.

19 Gordon Beckham CHW SS A- .324 in last 10 gams after mini slump. Whopping 12 2Bs in 23 G for #8 overall pick in '08.

1 David Price TAM SP A 3.92 ERA with 11 BB (and 22 K) in 20 2/3 IP. Not what he needs to force way to TB.

4 Rick Porcello DET SP A Scuffling a bit until last start, but Jim Leyland is apparently committed to his learning on the job.

5 Neftali Feliz TEX SP A Just 2 BB and 7 K last time out, but needs to solve LH hitters who are batting .361 against him.

6 Wade Davis TAM SP A- 3 ER or less in all 5 GS with a 3.09 ERA. Big concern though is the 5.4 BB/9.

7 Trevor Cahill OAK SP A- 1 ER in last start, but 3 BB to 1 K leaves his K:BB at an ugly 8:18.

National League

38 Brett Lawrie MIL 2B B Really turning it on - .305/.359/.573 w/ 8 SB. Could be that relatively rare offensive 2B.

41 Michael Taylor PHI OF B Slow start but on a tear now to increase line to .321/.372/.538 - 3 HR, 5 SB.

46 Gerardo Parra ARI OF B .375/.476/.489 with 9:17 K:BB and 6 SB. Get him back on your radar if you hadn't already.

47 Bryan Anderson STL C B .308 last year but off to a .186 start in '09. Just a mystery right now but hopefully he picks it up.

50 Jason Donald PHI SS B From an .889 OPS last year to .686 through Tues. of this year. Could be in team's 2010 plans..but…

2 Tommy Hanson ATL SP A He's ready: 1.69 ERA, 38:9 K:BB in 26 2/3 IP. Jo Jo Reyes shouldn't be much of an obstacle.

3 Madison Bumgarner SF SP A 1.48 ERA and 23:4 K:BB in 24 1/3 in tough Cal leauge. Not bad for a teenager…or anybody.

9 Jarrod Parker ARI SP A- Took him all of 4 starts to get AA promotion. 3 ER on 8 H in 4 1/3 IP with 5 K in debut.

14 Carlos Carrasco PHI SP B+ Has had his bouts of inconsistency, but 31 K in 26 IP with just 5 BB.

16 Tim Alderson SF SP B+ Nice recovery from last start w/ 7 IP / 2 ER effort. 20:3 K:BB in 26 IP in tough pitchers league.
