Evan Carter- OF- TEX- Hot- Carter is healthy and is looking more like the player who burst on the season in the Rangers' World Series run in 2023. He is working on a 9-game hitting streak in which he has gone 12-for-34 with 5 walks and 6 steals. For the season Carter has a slash line of .283/.372/.434. He can help in OBP and steals. With 4 homers in 121 PAs he also has shown power.
Colson Montgomery- SS- CHW- Rookie- Montgomery exploded in his 2nd MLB game, going 3-for-5 for his first hits, including a triple. He had 11 homers in 242 PAs at AAA Charlotte but was a free swinger, with a 33.9% K%. Montgomery's K% has increased as he's moved his way up the minor league ladder. It has held his AVG below .220 and his OBP below .300. Montgomery does have time to develop at age 23. He has a reputation as having good strike zone judgement even if he misses a lot. Montgomery was ranked as the 2nd best prospect in the White Sox organization before the season so there is potential.
Carlos Rodón- P- NYY- Cold- Rodón was trashed by the Mets yesterday, giving up 7 runs (6 ER) in 5 IP. He allowed 5 hits (2 of them homers) and 3 walks while striking out 4. It was only the second time in Rodón's last 10 starts that he allowed more than 3 runs. His ERA is at 3.30 but his FIP is still below 4 at 3.74. With a 10.74 K/9 Rodón is contributing in the K column. Consider this an off day.
Michael Wacha- P- KC- Cold-Wacha got roughed up by the Diamondbacks in Arizona yesterday. He allowed 4 runs on 45 hits and 4 walks in 4 IP while striking out, you guessed it, 4. The road has not been kind to Wacha this year. He's got a 4.89 ERA when away from KC and 2.81 at home. These splits have been the same since COVID ended.
Alec Burleson- OF- STL- Hot- Burleson went 3-for-5 with a solo homer yesterday. He is slashing .294/.336/.472 with 11 homers in 287 PAs this season. Burleson had gone 1-for-12 in his previous 4 games but had walked 4 times. He has a 91.0 EV and 43.6% HardHit% as well as a 7.2% SwStr%. Burleson has good command of the strike zone so slumps should not last long.
