Keep IPs low & Ks high with Swing & Miss specialist like these 5 RPs
Ronny Henriquez RP MIA
Here's your breakout reliever for 2025, sporting a 98% Whiff Rate and 97% at both K and Chase Rate. The middling Marlins are not the ideal place for this strikeout-smith, but the stats don't lie: 81 Ks in 58 IPs, a tidy 1.12 WHIP and ERA at 2.56. He's been a Holds guy but could surge to Save-gatherer in the right situation. Henriquez is a nice pickup for late-season ratio buttressing and piling up the Ks without denting your inning count. He gets the sneaky save here and there, too.
Edwin Uceta RP TAM
Sitting in the top 15 on the Whiff leader board at 96%, along with 95% in both K and Chase Rate, Uceta is firing filth that hitters can't hit. Edwin's got 82 Ks in just 59 IP with a sturdy 1.19 WHIP and an ERA of 3.57. Uceta what I'm talking about? He may only pitch 3 innings during the week, but you might just cash in 7 Ks during the limited usage. Consider dumping a middling SP and scoop up Edwin, for the win.
Devin Williams RP NYY
Despite an elite Whiff Rate of 98% along with a coveted K Rate of 96% AND a Chase Rate of 97%, the artist formerly known as The Airbender appeared broken in 2025. His bloated ERA of 5.11 is countered by a WHIP that points beyond the meltdowns at a steady 1.16. What does this all mean? For Williams, mostly feast or famine. When he gets out, they go down swinging, when he doesn't, the walks pile up and the hits fall. Bad luck plays a part, but 20 more Ks than IP will always play: 69 Ks over 49 IP.
Brendon Little RP TOR
No small feat for Little to be topping the Whiff Percentage list along with Mason Miller at the 100 Percentile for Whiff Rate along with 95% on the K Rate list. A lefty with 93 MPH average pitching, his strikeout surge is difficult to explain, as his 2024 failed to reveal this growing talent. His WHIP of 1.36 points to danger, but his groundball rate hovers high at 59%, making a nice combo for a reliever, even if he fails to inspire closer-worthy praise. Big things may loom for Little, so keep an eye on him for ratio relief numbers down the stretch. Meanwhile, Little is second in the American League in Holds behind the Guardians' Hunter Gaddis (27).
Steven Okert RP HOU
Another lefty with 93 MPH "heat", Okert should add a K to his last name: 67 Ks over 58 IP supported by a 95th Percentile Whiff Rate and an ability to suppress Hard Hit (95th percentile). Okert, like the LOOGYs of days gone by, is deployed with intention and match-up in mind, providing him with a decided edge over some of his RHP counterparts. Despite a rocky 2024, Okert is returning to 2023 form in which he threw 73 Ks over 58 IP. Hader is on the shelf, so expect Okert to be summoned a bit more frequently down (and from) the stretch.
