Paul Skenes-Pirates-SP
Paul Skenes went 5 IP and gave up 0 ER on 2 H, 0 BB, and 8 K's against the Orioles. Through 30 GS, Skenes has a 1.92 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. He has pitched over 300 IP at the major league level, which has resulted in a 1.97 ERA and 0.94 WHIP. He doesn't have an elite strikeout rate (29% K) this year, but it is still well above-average. Skenes also displays excellent control (6%) and has a six-pitch mix. He does a good job of utilizing different pitches depending on the matchup and what is working that day. The Pirates have done him no favors this year in terms of run support or letting him go more than 100 pitches in a start and today's start was just 64 pitches. He has the desire and stamina to lead the league in innings pitched, but the Pirates continue to limit him. He is currently behind Tarik Skubal and Garret Crochet in auction dollars earned, mainly because he has 10 W despite leading the NL in ERA, WHIP, and strikeouts.
Brice Turang-Brewers-2B
Brice Turang was 2-5 with an HR (18), 1 R, 1 RBI, and 1 SB against the Rangers. Turang has been swinging a hot bat in the second half (.317 AVG with 11 HR, 32 R, 34 RBI, and 6 SB). This season, he is hitting .289 with 18 HR, 90 R, 74 RBI, and 24 SB. Turang has been one of the best values based on where he was drafted. He is currently a top-30 overall hitter based on his five-category production. The spike in power is legit based on his improvement in barrel% (8%) and hardhit rate (47%). He has done so without sacrificing his plate skills (10% BB and 22% K). This has been a career year for Turang with the underlying skills to back it up.
Willy Adames-Giants-SS
Willy Adames was 0-3 with a walk against the Diamondbacks. Adames had a slow start to his Giants career, but has turned it around. He is hitting .229 with 28 HR, 87 R, 81 RBI, and 9 SB. Adames has hit .250 with 16 HR, 34 R, 33 RBI, and 5 SB in the second half. This is more of what we expected from Adames coming into the year. He was unlikely to repeat the 21 SB from his contract year, but the power was expected to be his carrying skills with a decent batting average. Adames has good plate skills (11% BB and 26% K) and hits the ball hard (13% Barrels), which plays in any park. He seems to have gotten comfortable in SanFrancisco, which is good news for 2026.
Brent Rooker-Athletics-OF
Brent Rooker was 3-5 with a run scored against the Giants. Rooker is hitting .267 with 27 HR, 88 R, 82 RBI, and 6 SB. He hasn't been able to match his monster 2024 season (.293 AVG, 39 HR, 82 R, 112 RBI, and 11 SB), but he hasn't been the reason why someone's team is not good. It was unlikely that he was going to have another season with a .362 BABIP. Rooker has cut his strikeout rate this year (22% K), which is more sustainable long term. He still hits the ball hard (13% Barrels and 45% Hardhit), so there is a lot to like. Rooker is more of a .270 hitter with 30 HR/5-10 SB. This is still a very valuable profile, and the Athletics lineup should only continue to improve.
Geraldo Perdomo-Diamondbacks-SS
Geraldo Perdomo was 2-4 with an HR (18), 1 R, 2 RBI, and 1 SB against the Giants. He is putting the finishing touches on a breakout 2025 season. Perdomo is hitting .284 with 18 HR, 90 R, 93 RBI, and 25 SB. He has been a top-20 hitter this year. This was way out of the range of possibilities when fantasy owners drafted him in the spring. Perdomo had the contact skills (15% K and 9% BB) but lacked the hard contact. This year, he has struck out less (11% K) and hit the ball harder (6% Barrels). Perdomo is another example of someone who has elite contact skills, eventually turning into a complete hitter.
