Logan Henderson- P- MIL- Hot- Henderson continued his amazing streak of consistency. Yesterday he allowed 1 run on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4 in 6 IP. In 13 MLB starts this season Henderson hasn't given up more than 3 runs and has done that only twice. He is on a streak of 4 quality starts. Henderson has a record of 8-2. He has been mixing bats (10.25 K/9) with excellent control (1.82 BB/9.) Henderson has gotten some good luck, with a 3.33 FIP and xFIP of 3.20 higher than his 2.60 ERA, but that is not anything horrible. While most attention, understandably, is on The Miz, Henderson is establishing himself as a top flight starter.
Alec Bohm- 3B- PHI- Hot- Bohm went 2-for-4 with 2 runs and a RBI yesterday. He is slashing .248/.305/.390 with 14 homers in 509 PAs. Since August 9 Bohm is 21-for-45 in 12 games with 11 runs and 13 RBI. Even with this hot streak there is still room for positive regression. Heading into yesterday, Bohm had a .261 xBA and .410 xSLG. This bodes well for him in the short term.
Dylan Beavers- OF- BAL- Hot- Beavers almost extended his homer streak to 4 games. He just missed and got credit with a walk off double that bounced over the wall in the 10th inning. The announcers thought it had gone out, but it hadn't. Beavers is slashing .244/.321/.387 with 6 homers in 244 PAs. He missed almost a month and a half with an oblique strain and that likely has impacted his performance. Beavers is one to watch as the season winds down to evaluate him for 2027.
Andrew Sears- P- DET- Rookie- Sears will make his MLB debut today in a bulk role as the Tigers are going with a bullpen game. Sears got a late start to the season due to a fractured bone spur in his elbow. He has advanced through 4 levels of the minors, most recently filling a bulk role with AAA Toledo. Sears has a combined 2.16 ERA, 3.03 FIP, 10.34 K/9, and 3.09 BB/9. Detroit will give the 23-year-old a look to see if he can translate his minor league success to the MLB level. Projections for Sears have shifted from reliever to starter. He has shown positive development, but he is probably a bit ahead of where he should be at this point. Sears was projected to spend the bulk of this season at AA Erie.
Caleb Durbin- 3B- BOS- Hot- Durbin went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run yesterday. Since August 12 he has gone 14-for-38 with 4 walks in 10 games. He only has 1 extra base hit, a homer. Durbin has an EV of 82.6 and HardHit% of 12.1% in this stretch, so it's no surprise that he is overperforming, with a .293 xBA and .367 xSLG in the first 9 games of the streak. Durbin underperformed at the start of the season, so we have been seeing regression in action. He is slashing .257/.328/.403 with 12 homers. Durbin's preseason projection was for 15 homers, a .266 AVG, and .415 SLG, so he may end up close to those numbers when all is said and done.
