The regular season ends today so the fantasy focus will shift to 2027. What can we look forward to? Here are some things to take into consideration.
Blake Snell- P- LAD- FYI- Snell had his final tune up before the postseason. He threw 77 pitches (50 of them strikes) and allowed 1 runs on 5 hits while walking no one and striking out 3 in 4 IP. For the year Snell threw 42.2 IP, down from 61.1 in 2025. Sure he had a 1.90 ERA and 11.60 K/9 but he wasn't out there much. Since the Dodgers really care about his performance in the postseason, that's fine for them. For fantasy owners, though, the risk is still way high for the return. Snell will be 34 heading into the 2027 season. His high in IP in the last 3 years is 104 in 2024. Snell has exceeded 130 IPs only twice in his 11 MLB seasons. That's not a track record to count on improving.
Brett Baty- 3B- NYM- Idea- Baty made his first start at SS yesterday. The Mets have been using him as a utility player send this will add another possible position to his roles in 2027. Baty is slashing .238/.312/.375 with 11 homers in 469 PAs. He has slightly underperformed with a .243 xBA and more significantly underperformed with a .413 xSLG. His 90.3 EV and 41.6% HardHIt% show him capable of getting to the 18 homers in 432 PAs he did in 2025. Expect some positive regression in 2027 with more position flexibility.
Connelly Early- P- WAS- Hot- Early made his first appearance with the Nationals after his trade form Boston. It was brief, lasting 3 scoreless IPs where he gave up one hit, walked no one, and struck out one. Ealy had posted a 3.44 ERA, 4.61 FIP, 4.11 xFIP, and 9.13 K/9 in 91.2 IP with the Red Sox before landing on the IL with forearm tightness and elbow inflammation. There is no structural damage, so Early should be put in a prominent rotation spot for the Nationals in 2027.
Bo Davidson- OF- SF- Rookie- Bo Davidson has made a splash in his 5 MLB games. The #8 prospect in the Giants' organization is slashing .375/.389/.375. He has been helped by a .500 BABIP and has no extra base hits in this small sample size of 18 PAs. Between AA Richmond and AAA Sacramento Davidson slashed .290/.361/.527 with 29 homers and 20 steals in 549 PAs. He projects to be an outfielder capable of playing any of the three positions that has power and speed. He could take his place permanently in 2027.
Kody Clemens- 2B- MIN- Stats- Clemens found significant playing time with the Twins at the age of 30. He set career highs of 579 PAs, 27 homers, 80 RBI, 74 runs, and 10 steals. Clemens saw time at 1B, 2b, and all 3 OF positions. His .239 AVG was impacted by a .283 BA and his xBA was .252. Clemens had a slash line of .239/.299/.461. He will be eligible for arbitration before next season so the Twins may seek to deal him while his value is high. Clemens EV of 91.9 and HardHit% of 46.0% indicate that he can expected to continue to hit for power in 2027. In deep leagues that power and his position versatility will have value.
