Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - May 31, 2007

David Regan

American League

2 Delmon Young TAM OF A+ 8-for-20 in his last five starts could signal a turn-around. .686 OPS isn't quite what we expected.

7 Evan Longoria TAM 3B A- 3-hit game on Tues. but still just .216 in last 10 games. .970 OPS, but '08 is looking like his year.

12 Cameron Maybin DET OF A- .923 OPS and 16 SB are impressive. 2 HR on Tuesday as well. Just turned 20 in Apr.

37 Sean Rodriguez LAA SS B May hasn't been kind to him: .198/.305/.297 but don't give up.

39 Bill Rowell BAL 3B B Back from an oblique injury, Rowell is 7-for-21 with a homer.

5 Adam Miller CLE SP A Strained finger tendon. Visited a hand specialist on Tuesday, but no word yet on what came of that.

6 Clay Buchholz BOS SP A- Maybe ready for big leagues now, but no need to rush him. 1.79 ERA and impressive 69:10 K:BB.

9 Andrew Miller DET SP A- 3 starts, 23 IP, 2 ER, 17 K since returning to minors, but with Kenny Rogers coming back, no room.

10 Kevin Slowey MIN SP B+ Looks like he's getting the call to replace Ramon Ortiz finally. 1.54 ERA and 57:5 K:BB. Grab him.

11 Matt Garza MIN SP A- Passed by Slowey, but Garza's 1.67 ERA over his last four starts leaves him next in line.

National League

3 Justin Upton ARI OF A 1.228 OPS in Double-A. I guess when you're hitting everything in sight, a 16:3 K:BB can result.

8 Ryan Braun MIL 3B A- It's now a homegrown infield in Milwaukee. Braun hitting 2nd between Weeks and Hardy should be fun.

9 Hunter Pence HOU OF A- String of 5 straight multi-hit games was snapped on Tues. Hard to argue w/ results despite just 5 BB.

10 Andy LaRoche LAD 3B A- Is hardly playing these days and will probably be sent down when Schmidt is ready.

11 Troy Tulowitzki COL SS A- 23% K/AB is high, but he's also drawn 20 walks and has his AVG up to .273. Power not there yet.

3 Homer Bailey CIN SP A Last start more like it: 7-5-1-1-0-9. The no BBs is key for Bailey. He should be up within a month.

4 Yovani Gallardo MIL SP A- 5.2-6-3-3-3-8 is an awful start for him. ERA still at 2.39 and promotion could come any day.

7 Clayton Kershaw LAD SP A- Has allowed more than 2 ER just once in 9 starts. 27 BB in 42 IP are a surprise.

34 Donald Veal CHC SP B Just when we thought he was turning it around: 14.85 ERA and 3:8 K:BB in his last 2 starts.

35 Kyle Drabek PHI SP B Has improved in May (3.77 ERA), but 16 BB in 31 IP for the month shows what he needs to work on.
