Sandy Alcantara- P- MIA- Hot- By not getting traded, Alcantra remained in a position to set several Marlins' team records. Yesterday, the franchise record he broke was most innings pitched for the Marlins. Alcantara did it in grand fashion, tossing 7 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits, walking 1, and striking out 8. He hasn't given up a run in any of his last 3 starts, covering 20 IP. Alcantara is leading MLB in IPs and has a 3.52 ERA with a 7.04 K/9. The ERA and K/9 have been trending in a positive direction, which is making him a strong fantasy asset as we head down the stretch.
Bryan Abreu- RP-HOU- Stats- On June 3, when Josh Hader started his injury-delayed 2026 campaign, Abreu had a 7.91 ERA, 3 saves, and 5 holds. He did strike out 25 batters in 19.1 IP but also walked 23. Since moving back into a primary setup role, Abreu has pitched 22.2 IP in 23 games and struck out 30 while walking only 7. He only has 2 holds, but has picked up 4 saves. Abreu has a 1.19 ERA and 2.52 FIP in that span. In leagues that count holds, Abreu will have value as he should get more of those. He may not get to 100 Ks as he did in the prior 3 seasons but should help provide those counting numbers down the stretch.
Taj Bradley- P- MIN- Cold- Bradley took a 9-4 record into last night's start and left with the same record. He was charged with 3 runs in 5 IP on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7 batters. It was the first time in 4 starts and 2nd in 7 starts that Bradley didn't toss a quality one. He still owns a 3.76 ERA and 3.84 FIP with a 10.02 K/9 and 3.76 BB/9. Bradley has shown consistency this season. He has the occasional clunker but has been a standout for Minnesota.
Gage Jump- P- ATH- Rookie- Gage posted his second strong start of his last 3. Yesterday he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks in 6 IP, earning a quality start. Gage struck out 11 Red Sox, the first time he has recorded double digits. He avoided the control issues that plagued him in his previous 3 starts. Jump had walked 14 batters in 14.1 IP across those outings. Those are skewing Gage's 4.09 BB/9. Expect Gage to keep striking out batters and walking them at a lower rate than his current season number.
Aaron Ashby- RP- MIL- Stats- Ashby picked up his 13th win of the season. He is the only reliever with double digit wins so far. Ashby has a 3.62 ERA, 2.86 FIP, and has struck out 91 batters in 64.2 IP. Besides having double digits in wins, he has 10 holds, so has extra value in leagues that count those. Ashby has a 4.45 BB/9, but that is a result of spotty control earlier in the season. Since the All-Star Break he has walked 3 batters in 9 IP. Ashby's usage and the comeback tendencies of the Brewers has put him in line to get a lot of wins. The number of Ks he has gives him a bonus.
