Fernando Tatis Jr., OF, SD

Tatis continued his late-season surge on Tuesday, going 2 for 5 with a pair of solo home runs. Remarkably, despite the very sluggish start, Tatis appears to be turning out an overall positive campaign in 2026. His .296 xBA ranks in the 98th percentile, and his 53.7% ranks in the 97th. 19 homers, 69 RBI, and 31 stolen bases add up to a good fantasy season, but of course Tatis owners won't be exactly thrilled with the current result. However, considering he had three homers through his first 358 PAs, his second half has been fantastic...and he could turn out to be a league winner for those who are riding his hot bat in the playoffs right now.

Yohandy Morales, DH, WSH

Morales went 3 for 5 with a solo homer, a double, and two runs in his MLB debut on Tuesday. The Nationals' 13th-best prospect according to MLB.com made his presence felt immediately at the big-league level. The 24-year-old slashed .286/.363/.519 with 25 homers across 455 PAs in Triple-A this season. The youngster has made vast improvements in the minors over the past few seasons and will have the last month of the MLB season to make a case for the big-league roster in 2027.

Sean Burke, SP, CHW

Burke improved upon his career-year on Tuesday, tossing 5.1 innings of shutout ball in Houston. He gave up one hit, walked four, and struck out six as he improved to 8-6 on the season. The 26-year-old owns a 3.20 ERA and 3.90 xFIP through 154.2 innings pitched, which is a career-high. Burke doesn't get a lot of ground balls (35.6% GB%, 12th percentile), and his Barrel/Hard-Hit numbers are average. What Burke has displayed is an above-average strikeout rate (9.72 K/9) and an effective fastball (96th percentile FB Run Value).

Ryan Jeffers, C, MIN

Jeffers went 2 for 4 with a three-run homer and a triple in the Twins' rout of the Tigers on Tuesday. It was the second day in a row that Jeffers led a Minnesota offensive onslaught against Detroit. Jeffers also went deep twice and brought in four on Monday. An injury that cost him more than a month early in the season has sapped Jeffers' counting numbers, but he has been one of the most productive offensive catchers in the league when healthy. In his 7th big-league season, the 29-year-old has shown a lot of maturity in his plate approach in 2026. He owns a career-low 16.4% K% and a career-high 13.7% BB% that ranks in the 94th percentile. He's slashing .278/.381/.510 and leads all catchers (min 250 PAs) with a .386 wOBA and 150 wRC+.

Gavin Williams, SP, CLE

Williams gave up one unearned run, surrendering two hits, one walk, and fanning a season-high 13 batters. After his worst start of the season last time out, the 27-year-old bounced back with his best outing. Williams earned his career-high 13th win...and though his ERA of 3.81 isn't as pretty as the 3.06 he posted last season, this is shaping up to be a career year. His 11.98 K/9 is a career high, while his 2.76 BB/9 is a career low. Unfortunately, Williams has been hit significantly harder as well; his 12.0% Barrel% and 47.6% Hard-Hit% rank in the 2nd and 1st percentiles, respectively.

Growing up I loved Sammy Sosa and the Chicago Cubs. The 1998 Home Run duel between Sosa and Mark McGwire was a highlight of my childhood and was ultimately where my infatuation with baseball and statistics began. That infatuation then grew exponentially a few years later when my father took me to my first Major League game between the Cubs and Rockies at Coors Field. We sat a few rows up behind home plate where I witnessed Slammin' Sammy hit three, 3-run Home Runs, in three consecutive innings. I was elated, it was as if the game was scripted for me. I've personally witnessed a lot of great sports games since then, from Brett Favre at Lambeau to LeBron James in the finals, but nothing compares to the show that my favorite player put on for me at my first baseball game.
