Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - May 15, 2008

David Regan

American League

3 Matt Wieters BAL C A Turns 22 next week and with an OPS greater than 1.000, he belongs in AA.

13 Jeff Clement SEA C A- He's not hitting, but the M's will be patient with him. They don't want to have to turn back to Vidro.

14 Mike Moustakas KC SS A- Apparently he's not an April guy. .333/.375/.622 in May after a .479 OPS April. He's very very good.

29 Carlos Triunfel SEA SS B+ Here we go: .405 in May with 4 XBH. 3 XBH in all of April. Could reach elite status this year.

31 Austin Jackson NYY OF B+ Homerless drought at 148 at-bats. I do like the 30:20 K:BB and 6 SB

19 Chris Tillman BAL SP B+ 2.87 ERA in seven starts. 6 one-hit innings in last start. Just barely 20 y.o. and already in AA.

22 Deolis Guerra MIN SP B+ Stuff hasn't progressed to dominance yet (5.7 K/9), but still an impressive specimen.

23 Anthony Swarzak MIN SP B+ 1 ER in 16 IP, 18:1 K:BB in first 3 GS, but since then: 4 GS, 6.35 ERA, 20:11 K:BB since.

24 Jordan Walden LAA SP B+ Six one-hit innings last time out before rain delay ended his night.

25 Ian Kennedy NYY SP B+ One look at Kei Igawa was apparently enough, so Kennedy gets the call to start Thursday.

National League

5 Matt LaPorta MIL OF A- .314/.420/.629, 24:21 K:BB. Yeah bat is just about ready, but no room in the inn.

6 Colby Rasmus STL OF A .210 in April, .150 in May…no word of an injury, but his status is slipping just a fraction.

9 Joey Votto CIN 1B A- HR binge has him at .288/.358/.568. Double-digit SB potential as well, but just one SB so far.

10 Andy LaRoche LAD 3B A- 4 HR in 38 at-bats with unreal 3:16 K:BB, but he's blocked - really blocked.

48 Neil Walker PIT 3B B .190 with 28:9 K:BB. PIT may be looking at Vanderbilt 3B Pedro Alvarez in '08 draft.

33 Ross Detwiler WAS SP B 6-4-1-1-0-6 last time out was his best start of the year. 4.45 ERA on the season.

34 James McDonald LAD SP B 2 ER in 13 IP in last two starts. Impressive 42:8 K:BB in 40 innings.

44 Colin Balester WAS SP B 3 Runs or less in 6 of 7 starts, though a 26:14 K:BB is far from dominant. J. Zimmeman may be better.

46 Jordan Zimmerman WAS SP B 2.92 ERA in 2 GS since AA promotion. 2.04 ERA, 9.8 K/9 overall.

50 Madison Bumgarner SF SP B Last four starts: 22 1/3 scoreless innings. Very impressive 42:8 K:BB on the year.
