Sean Burke-White Sox-SP
Sean Burke went 6 IP and gave up 0 ER on 3 H, 2 BB, and 10 K's against the Yankees. Burke has pieced together a breakout season, compiling a 3.04 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 124.1 IP. He's done it by raising his strikeout rate from 22% to 27% K. This is in combination with a drop in his walk rate as well (11% to 7% BB). Burke hasn't been relying on good fortune, as both his 0.94 HR/9 and 3.48 SIERA support much of what he's accomplished. Burke may not have ace upside, but he's developed into a reliable fantasy option.
JJ Wetherholt-Cardinals-2B
JJ Wetherholt went 2-for-5 with a HR (16), 1 R, 1 RBI, and 1 SB against the Cubs. Wetherholt has continued to impress in his first full big-league season, slashing .253 with 16 HR, 69 R, 41 RBI, and 12 SB through 470 PA. While the power is more solid than spectacular (7% Barrel rate and 45% HardHit rate), he offsets it with an advanced approach at the plate, walking 10% of the time while striking out just 16%. Add in the speed, and he's quietly developed into a well-rounded fantasy contributor capable of helping across all five categories rather than relying on one standout tool.
Alex Bregman-Cubs-3B
Alex Bregman went 2-for-5 with 2 doubles, 2 R, 1 RBI, and 1 BB against the Cardinals. Bregman has quietly turned in another productive season, slashing .248 with 11 HR, 57 R, 47 RBI, and 2 SB through 487 PA. While the power has dipped (4% Barrel rate and 36% HardHit rate), he continues to balance it with an excellent approach, pairing an 11% walk rate with a 16% strikeout rate. The home run totals aren't what they once were, but Bregman's ability to consistently reach base and pile up runs keeps him firmly on the fantasy radar, especially in points and OBP formats.
Nolan McLean-Mets-SP
Nolan McLean went 6.1 IP and gave up 2 ER on 6 H, 2 BB, and 6 K's against the Marlins. McLean has looked every bit like a long-term rotation piece, recording a 3.29 ERA and 1.12 WHIP through 125.2 IP. A 29% strikeout rate, 20% K-BB%, and 107 Stuff+ highlight the swing-and-miss arsenal, while his 3.43 SIERA reinforces that the performance has been skill-driven. The combination of strikeouts and underlying metrics makes McLean one of the more exciting young fantasy pitchers to roster. There was a time when it appeared the league figured him out in May when he had a 6.10 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, but he quickly turned it around.
