Tatis' Power is Back, WAY BACK - July 22nd, 2026

Fernando Tatis Jr., OF, SDP

Tatis Jr. went DEEP on Tuesday, hitting a 474-foot blast, which is the longest by a batter this season. He also hit a double and finished the night 3 for 5 with three RBI. The 27-year-old seems to have recharged his power during his All-Star Break. After hitting just five homers with a .097 ISO in his 416 plate appearances prior to the break, Tatis has hit three homers and owns a .450 ISO in 23 plate appearances since. Apart from the completely sapped power, Tatis has really been solid at the dish this season, and this recent surge will give owners hope that he can recapture those elite-level numbers he displayed early in his career.

Parker Messick, SP, CLE

Messick gave up two runs (1 ER) across 5.2 innings of work in his first outing since his one-two-three inning in the All-Star Game. He entered the All-Star break on the heels of a pair of 5+ inning, one-run outings, and he came out of the break with another such solid outing. After impressing in limited starts last season, he owns a 2.68 ERA across 117.2 innings in 2026 and is amidst a full-blown breakout campaign. The southpaw hasn't dazzled with his stuff, as a lowly 93.4 MPH fastball velocity and modest 8.87 K/9 can attest. However, he has proven to be difficult to square up. The 25-year-old owns a 32.9% Hard-Hit% and 5.4% Barrel%, which rank in the 84th and 83rd percentile, respectively. Also, despite the low velo, Messick's Fastball Run Value (26) currently ranks in the 100th percentile on Baseball Savant.

Brandon Nimmo, OF, TEX

Nimmo paced the Rangers' offense on Tuesday, going 4 for 4 with a homer and two RBI. In his first season in Texas, the 33-year-old's power has been down a bit; he has just 10 homers (career-high 25 in 2025) and is sporting a .164 ISO (.176 career mark). However, despite the lack of power, his hitting metrics have been fantastic. Nimmo's 52.5% Hard-Hit% is a career-high and ranks in the 94th percentile, while his .372 xwOBA and .508 xSLG rank in the 91st percentile. The aging veteran isn't walking as much as he did in his prime, but he is striking the ball well, and his production would really be unlocked with just a little bit better fortune.

Justin Wrobleski, SP, LAD

Wrobleski delivered another stellar performance in today's 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, slicing through a potent lineup for 6.1 innings of one-run ball while racking up seven strikeouts against just one walk. From a pitch-modeling perspective, Wrobleski continues to thrive as a command-first southpaw, though he hasn't displayed the ability to generate swing-and-miss stuff (19.5% Whiff% and 6.75 K/9). Wrobleski's underlying estimators like his 4.53 SIERA and 4.14 xERA suggest he has been overperforming his sparkling 2.69 surface ERA; however, his command (5.0% BB%, 96th percentile) and offense make him a viable fantasy option regardless. He has racked up 11 wins in his 16 starts with the Dodgers this season.

Pete Crow-Armstrong, OF, CHC

PCA delivered a flawless performance at the plate in Tuesday's 11-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers. He reached base in all five of his plate appearances, going 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI, and an impressive three walks. The three walks highlight the improvements he has made at the dish this season. His season-long plate discipline numbers feature a 26.5% K%, but he offsets that swing-and-miss tendency with an elevated 11.2% BB%, which is well above the 4.5% mark he posted in 2025. Furthermore, when he does make contact, he does so with elite authority, boasting an exceptional 48.3% Hard-Hit% that sits in the 86th percentile among major leaguers. PCA is currently slashing .285/.384/.521 with 21 homers and 25 stolen bases. His blend of average, on-base ability, power, and speed (not to mention defense) makes him a fantasy manager's dream.

Growing up I loved Sammy Sosa and the Chicago Cubs. The 1998 Home Run duel between Sosa and Mark McGwire was a highlight of my childhood and was ultimately where my infatuation with baseball and statistics began. That infatuation then grew exponentially a few years later when my father took me to my first Major League game between the Cubs and Rockies at Coors Field. We sat a few rows up behind home plate where I witnessed Slammin' Sammy hit three, 3-run Home Runs, in three consecutive innings. I was elated, it was as if the game was scripted for me. I've personally witnessed a lot of great sports games since then, from Brett Favre at Lambeau to LeBron James in the finals, but nothing compares to the show that my favorite player put on for me at my first baseball game.
