The biggest trade leading to the deadline happened late last night. The rich get richer. There was a lot more activity with a lot more coming before tomorrow's deadline passes.
Tarik Skubal- P- LAD- Trade- The suspense ended earlier than many thought. Skubal was traded to the Dodgers for a package of highly-rated prospects. He will be moving from a home park that has a HR factor of 102 to one that is at 126. However, with Skubal being in the 73rd percentile for GB% and a HR/9 of 0.93 this will likely have little impact on him. One big benefit for Skubal is the likelihood of a bigger winning percentage. He has a 7-5 record now and should win a lot more of his starts. Skubal had a little adjustment time needed when he first came back from his loose bodies procedure but seems to have returned to his overwhelming self.
Luis Castillo- P- CHW- Trade- The White Sox acquired Castillo from the Mariners. He will be added to the rotation and exit the starter limbo situation in Seattle. Castillo's performance has worsened over the past few years. His ERA and FIP have increased year-over-year since 2022, with a slight pause last year, when they went down slightly. Castillo has underperformed each year. However, since it is consistent underperformance, regression is not something to count on or hope for. Castillo has had the most pitcher-friendly park in MLB as his home. Rate Field is the 9th most pitcher-friendly park. While his home/road splits in ERA are negligible (5.04 to 5.07) his FIP splits are pronounced. Castillo's FIP at T-Mobile Park is 3.59 and on the road it is 5.37. Don't expect his performance to get much, if any, boost from this trade.
Dean Kremer- P- MIN- Trade- Kremer went to Minnesota in exchange for OF prospect Jhomnardo Reyes. After leading the Orioles in IP in 2025 a quad strain took almost 3 months out of Kremer's 2026. His results have not been good, as he has a 6.50 ERA and 6.24 FIP. However, Kremer has an uncharacteristic 3.00 HR/9. Of his 12 homers allowed in 36 IP, 10 of them came in 4 of his 7 starts. Kremer has an xFIP of 3.81. If the extremes are rarer, he could finish strong. Kremer is being inserted into the Twins rotation.
Craig Yoho- RP- CLE- Trade- Yoho moves from the Brewers to the Guardians in a 4-player trade. The rap on Yoho is that he may be a AAAA-type of player. At AAA Nashville in 2025 he posted a K/9 of 11.33 and has a 11.35 with them this season. With the Brewers, however, Yoho's K/9 was 7.27 (in a very small sample size of 8.2 IP) and 8.10 in 20 IP in 2026. He has potential, and at 26 may be worth looking at in deep keeper leagues.
Lane Thomas- OF- ATL- Trade- Thomas was sent to Atlanta in a trade that also included reliever Bailey Falter. Thomas has been the starter in CF for Kansas City while Kyle Isbel has been injured. His last game with the Royals saw him go 1-for-2. Thomas has a slash line of .232/.326/.393 with 10 homers in 328 PAs. He has been more effective against southpaws, with a .263/.370/.430 slash line against them. Thomas will probably be in more of a platoon situation with the Braves, similar to how he started the season with Kansas City.
