Brice Turang- 2B- MIL- Hot- Turang hit his 4th homer of the season yesterday, in 197 PAs. In 2024 he slugged 7 homers in 619 PAs. Turang has a .297/.372/.390 slash line. The average will likely be hurt by regression since he has a .370 BABIP. Turang has dramatically increased his Statcast metrics. His EV has jumped from 87.0 to 91.2, with his HardHIt% going from 25.4% to 43.0% and his Barrel% from 2.4% to 7.8%. Turang could be another player helped by the torpedo bat and is on pace for double digit homers. He has 13 steals so could be looking at around 40 steals or could get closer to 50. He has been thrown out 3 times this year after only getting caught 6 times all of last season.
Tommy Kahnle- RP- DET- Rise Value- Kahnle pitched a perfect 9th inning last night to earn his 6th save of the season. That makes him the team leader for the Tigers. Kahnle also has 5 holds as he is being used in different high-leverage situations. With a 1.37 ERA, 20 Ks in 19.2 IP and a 0.81 WHIP, Kahnle provides relief value, particularly in leagues that count holds and saves.
Joe Ryan- P- MIN- FYI- Ryan may be in line for a win in his first career relief appearance today. He is scheduled to take the mound when Monday's suspended game is resumed. The Twins have a 2-1 lead in the top of the 4th. Ryan has made a big jump in production this season. He has a 2.42 ERA, which is below his FIP and xFIP, but they are 3.12 and 3.37 respectively, so still solid. Ryan owns a 10.90 K/9 and 1.04 BB/9, so his control has been excellent. He won't extend his string of 4 quality starts, since he won't be starting. His 13.2% SwStr% is higher than he has finished any season. Ryan is in the upper tier of starting pitchers this season.
Keibert Ruiz- C- WAS- Stats- Ruiz went 1-for-4 with a double last night and is now slashing .280/.326/.366 for the season. He has 2 homers in 172 PAs. Ruiz hasn't made consistent solid contact, with a 31.7% HardHit%, 1.4% Barrel%, and 86.7 EV. He also has a 51.1% GB%, which will make his average luck dependent. Ruiz has a .305 BABIP, well above his career mark of .261. Expect his average to go down.
