Wyatt Langford (OF-TEX) went 2-4 with a solo homer, 2B, and additional run scored against Cleveland on Friday. As was the case last season, the 23 year-old is coming alive down the stretch and is now batting .244 with 19 dingers, 52 RBI, 59 runs scored, and 16 steals across 464 PA on the year. His strikeout rate is up in 2025 (to 27% from 20.5%) but he's walking more often (up to 11.5% from 9%) while he's making about the same amount of contact on pitches inside the zone (86%). Encouragingly, his Statcast profile has improved across the board, with his hard-hit rate up to 47% (from 43.5%), his barrel rate up to 13.5% (from 9.5%), and his average exit velo is up to over 91 mph (from 89.5 mph). A 25/20 season is very much in the cards while there's more to unlock in the power department for 2026.
Carson Williams (SS-TB) went 2-4 with a homer and 3 RBI as he was called up to make his MLB debut against the Cardinals on Friday. The 22 year-old is the team's top prospect and he possesses plus power and speed but below-average contact ability. That was apparent in his 451 PA at the Triple-A level this season as he registered a .213 average, 23 homers, 55 RBI, 72 runs scored, and 22 steals while fanning at a 34% clip and walking at a 12% rate. Despite the power output, Williams's Statcast profile is underwhelming with a 38% hard-hit rate and average exit velocity of 89 mph. His quantity of contact is not good with a 63.5% overall contact rate and 78% in-zone contact rate. The power-speed combo makes him worth watching, but do not rush to add him.
Jhostynxon Garcia (OF-BOS) made his MLB debut against the Yankees in New York on Friday, going 0-3 with a BB and 3 strikeouts as he manned RF and batted 5th. The 22 year-old known as "The Password" will likely see most of his action against LHP with Boston's outfield still crowded even with Wilyer Abreu (calf) sidelined. Garcia has impressed in the high minors this season, logging a .289 average to go with 20 homers, 73 RBI, 71 runs scored, and 6 steals over 433 PA, most of which have come with Triple-A Worcester. He's posted a 10% walk rate against a 25.5% strikeout rate while his overall (68.5%) and in-zone (77%) contact rates are not great. Statcast shows below-average quality of contact in a 35.5% hard-hit rate and average exit velocity of 87 mph during his time in Triple-A. That and the likelihood that he doesn't play regularly limits his fantasy upside.
Shane Bieber (SP-TOR) was electric in his season debut (elbow) against the Marlins, allowing just 1 run on 2 hits and no walks while racking up 9 strikeouts over 6 IP. The 30 year-old righty fired 55 of his 87 offerings for strikes while serving up a homer. It was a very encouraging first outing since early 2024 for Bieber as it was unclear how much he had left in the tank even before undergoing Tommy John surgery. But his rehab work was strong as he logged a 1.86 ERA, 11.5 K/9, 0.9 BB/9, and 2.34 xFIP over 29 IP in the minors this season. Grab him if he's still on the waiver wire as he could give your fantasy rotation a jolt down the stretch. And his next start - at home against the Twins on Wednesday - is a favorable spot.
Brayan Bello (SP-BOS) was sharp against the Yankees on Friday night as he fired 7 shutout IP in which he scattered 3 hits and a walk while fanning 5 on 92 pitches (61 strikes). The 26 year-old righty now claims a 3.07 ERA, 6.8 K/9, 3.1 BB/9, and 4.25 xFIP over 135 IP in 2025. The improved control from last year (3.6 BB/9 is nice, but Bello's strikeout rate is easily a career low as his swinging-strike rate is down to 8.5% (10.5% career). The opposition is making a lot of contact on pitches inside the zone (90%) but hasn't done a lot with it as Statcast shows a 39% hard-hit rate, 88.5 mph average exit velo, and 6.5% barrel rate while Bello has induced grounders at a 49% clip. Still, a significant gap between the ERA and xFIP is concerning as is subpar control and strikeout ability. He lines up to face a Baltimore lineup on Wednesday that ranks 14th in the majors with a team OPS of .727 since the break.
