Andrew Kittredge- RP- CHC- Hot- In 7 games with the Cubs Kittredge has recorded 4 holds and his first win with them came yesterday. His ERA is inflated due to one bad outing were he was charged with 4 ones while recording only 1 out. Those are the only runs Kittredge has allowed with his new team. His value in leagues that count holds as well as saves has increased. Kittredge has struck out 10 in 6 IP. He has appeared in half of the Cubs games since the trading deadline and performed when he has taken the mound.
Nolan McLean- P- NYM- Rookie- Nolan McLean ended his quest to be a two-way player this year. Focusing on pitching looks like a good decision. In his MLB debut yesterday he tossed 5.1 scoreless IP, allowing 2 hits, walking 4, and striking out 8. McLean threw 55 of his 911 pitches for strikes, so he wasn't quite as wild as the walk total indicates. He got 10 swings and misses. Between AA Binghamton and AAA Syracuse McLean posted a 2.45 ERA, 3.65 FIP, 10.06 K/9 and 3.96 BB/9. Yesterday McLean had a very effective sweeper and also a sinker in the mid-90s. He lived up to his position as a high prospect with the Mets and has a solid future.
Cade Cavalli- P- WAS- Rookie- Cavalli's return from Tommy John surgery has been solid but was outstanding yesterday. He threw 7 scoreless IP against the Phillies to earn his first MLB win, allowing 7 hits, walking none, and striking out 5. Cavalli was efficient, throwing 63 of 90 pitches for strikes. He mixed pitches effectively, with a fastball flirting with triple digits, a changeup in the low 90s, and a knuckle curve in the high 80s. Cavalli's MLB results in his 3 starts (2.20 ERA, 2.93 FIP) are much better than he had working his way up the minor league ladder (5.35 ERA, 4.25 FIP.) He has not yet reached his K potential (7.71 K/9) but that is likely to come. Cavalli is looking like he will challenge for a key role in the 2026 Washington rotation and will probably contribute for the rest of 2025.
Dillon Dingler- C- DET- Rookie- Dingler went 1-for-4 last night and is slashing .272/.319/.426 with 11 homers in 349 PAs. He is holding his own as the starting catcher for a division leader. Dingler has been hot recently, hitting .296 in his last 8 games with 3 walks and a homer. He has a solid 89.7 EV, 44.9% HardHIt%, and 9.0% Barrell%. Dingler's xBA is .294, 22 points above his AVG. He consistently had a BB% over 10.0% in the minors but right now is only at 4.3% with Detroit. Look for Dingler to increase his OBP in 2026 and maintain or improve on his power.
Pete Fairbanks- RP- TB- Hot- Fairbanks saved his 24th game of the season last night. He has 7 saves and one BS in his last 10 appearances, which started after the All-Star Break. Fairbanks has allowed 2 runs in 10.1 IP in that span. His control and strikeouts have also ticked up in the second half.
After striking out the side yesterday Fairbanks has 13 Ks since the All-Star Break and has yet to walk a batter. The Rays are hanging out just below .500, but Fairbanks is pitching like an elite closer.
