Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - May 21, 2009

David Regan

American League

24 Ben Revere MIN OF B+ Typical Revere - .410 in last 10 G. 14 SB but just 67% success rate. LH hitter .444 vs. LHP.

28 Chris Carter OAK 1B B+ Just .243 so far in May. AVG may never be that high due to contact issues (72.9% CT%).

38 Tyler Flowers CHW C B .182 with 9:13 K:BB in last 10 G. 33:28 K:BB leads to .437 OBP but 68.9% CT%.

46 Brandon Allen CHW 1B B Konerko's potential replacement hitting .304/.373/.520 with 6 HR and 0.67 EYE

49 Ryan Kalish BOS OF B .304/.434/.504 with as many HR (5) this year as last year in 300 fewer at-bats. Just promoted to AA.

19 Aaron Poreda CHW SP B+ 2.52 ERA and 3 ER or less in all 7 GS. 5.0 BB/9 only area holding him back.

28 Mike Montgomery KC SP B Late debut to limit IP - 4-1-0-0-4-7 in impressive first start. LHP could rise up these charts quickly.

35 Ryan Perry DET RP B Just 3 BB in last 8 2/3 innings after 10 in first 7 2/3. he'll be closing some day but not this year.

40 Gio Gonzalez OAK SP B Rotation spot his for the taking but he's done absolutely nothing to show he deserves it.

47 Casey Crosby DET SP B Hard thrower still working his way back from TJ surgery, but early returns have been impressive.

National League

2 Pedro Alvarez PIT 3B A 70.9% CT% is surprisingly low 7-for-19 with 2 HR in last 5 games.

3 Jason Heyward ATL OF A Hasn't gotten it going quite yet, but still a 15.9 AB/HR this year vs 42.8 a year ago.

4 Buster Posey SF C A .366 in April but slumping (.190 in May). That evens out to .293/.373/.486 overall.

5 Colby Rasmus STL OF A- Competing with Chris Duncan to stay in the lineup once everyone is healthy.

6 Cameron Maybin FLA OF A 9-for-24 with a 3B and no BB since returning to AAA. Some power would be nice.

34 Jon Niese NYM SP B One good and one bad start in NY not enough. Replaced by Tim Redding.

41 Ross Detwiler WAS SP B Pretty solid big league debut with 2 ER in 5 IP. That should be enough for him to stick around.

42 Josh Lindblom LAD SP B 2 ER on 4 hits in 2/3 of an inning of relief on 5/12 and no sign of him since. Not sure if there's a problem.

43 Kris Medlen ATL SP B 5-0, 1.19 in AAA gets him the call over Tommy Hanson. 120 K in 120 1/3 IP in AA last year as well.

49 Daniel Schlereth ARI RP B 1.26 ERA in 14 1/3 IP. Once he improves his command a bit (8 BB), he could be in Arizona.
