Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - July 26, 2007

David Regan

American League

39 Chris Lubanski KC OF B- Needs to hit better than his .179 AAA mark if he wants to be team's LF next year.

42 Jeff Clement SEA C B- Strange...after a .370 June, Clement is batting just .203 in July. Nice spike in EYE to 0.66 this year.

45 Chris Parmalee MIN OF B- Just .188 vs. LHP, but bat is waking up and his strikeouts are coming down in July.

46 Trevor Crowe CLE OF B- .326/.434/.536 in July with 7 2B and 3 HR. Had zero XBH's in June, so this is a great sign.

50 Carlos Triunfel SEA SS B- Was born in 1990 (!) and hitting .309 in High-A. Just 2 BB in 68 at-bats speaks to lack of exp.

17 Jeff Niemann TAM SP B+ Allowed 11 hits in his last start and just isn't meeting expectations. At least he's healthy though.

18 Eric Hurley TEX SP B+ 6 shutout innings in his last start and could compete for a rotation spot next spring.

22 Michael Bowden BOS SP B Better lately, but still a 4.60 AA ERA. 34 H allowed in last 23 2/3 innings.

26 Garrett Olson BAL SP B Not surprisingly, Olson was sent back to AAA to make room for Trachsel. He'll be back.

27 Ian Kennedy NYY SP B 2 ER or less in each of last 9 starts. 129:39 K:BB in 111 2/3 IP. Just promoted to AAA.

National League

41 Angel Villalona SF 3B B- Hitting just .230 through 87 at-bats, but his is all about projection. Solid BB/AB rate of 11.5%.

43 Tony Abreu LAD 3B B- Back in AAA since there were no at-bats for him with the Dodgers. Needs a strong finish in AAA.

44 Dexter Fowler COL OF B- Could be back sometime in AUG from broken hand. Expected to play in Arizona Fall League.

47 Steven Pearce PIT 1B B- Just 1 HR this month, but a .333 AVG, 9:8 K:BB, and surprisingly, 6 SBs.

48 Chris Carter ARI 1B B- C. Jackson reportedly on the block perhaps to make room for Carter's .935 OPS.

5 Clayton Kershaw LAD SP A 7.36 ERA over last 2 starts despite 17:2 K:BB. 2.78 ERA and 1.4 K/I for the year.

9 Max Scherzer ARI SP A- AA ERA up to 5.23 after another rocky outing. Perhaps he's wearing down?

19 Franklin Morales COL SP B+ Could be ready to explode. Last 2 starts: 1.17 ERA, 7 H, 3 BB, 16 K in 15 1/3 IP.

20 Johnny Cueto CIN SP B+ 2.67 ERA and 36:6 K:BB in 5 AA starts and is one of the faster-rising SP prospects in the game.

21 Troy Patton HOU SP B+ Follows a shellacking with his best start in quite a while: 7-2-0-0-1-6. Needs consistency still.
