Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - August 2, 2007

David Regan

American League

30 Lars Anderson BOS 1B B He's glad July is past: .194 with 1 HR for the month. At least he did mix in 21 walks however.

34 Kurt Suzuki OAK C B- Just .220 with 2 HR in 59 at-bats though 11:9 K:BB is solid. Piazza could take away at-bats.

41 Sean Rodriguez LAA SS B- Pretty mediocre after a .954 OPS April, but .349 AVG in last 10 games could spell a turn-around.

44 Trevor Crowe CLE OF B- .330/.430/.485 with 3 of his 4 HR in July. Regaining a little of his pre-season luster.

47 Carlos Triunfel SEA SS B- Six-hit game on Monday leaves him with a .340 AVG in High-A. Not bad for a guy born in the 90s.

4 Clay Buchholz BOS SP A 21 K in 12 IP since AAA promotion. Boston has rightly rejected all trade inquirings involving him.

6 Joba Chamberlain NYY SP A- 10 K in AAA debut. Moves to the pen now to prep for big league call-up for desperate NYY pen.

7 Matt Garza MIN SP A- 11 K in last start and will drop off this list soon. He's seen the last of the minors this year.

10 Jacob McGee TAM SP A- Had been so-so recently, but 7 scoreless (8 K) in his last start getes him back on track.

11 Luke Hochevar KC SP A- 11 IP, 2 ER over last two starts despite an 8:7 K:BB. Still should be in 2008 rotation to begin yr.

National League

32 Brandon Jones ATL OF B- Off to an 8-for-43 start upon AAA promotion but he could be the long-term Atlanta LF.

35 Drew Stubbs CIN OF B- 1 HR and .234 AVG in 128 at-bats vs. LHP leaves him with 200+ pt difference in OPS splits.

37 Chin-Lung Hu LAD SS B- Cooling off a little but still hitting .375 in 64 AAA at-bats. Doesn't walk or strike out much.

40 Tyler Colvin CHC OF B- 10-for-23 in last 6 games, but overall 0.17 EYE is a cause for serious concern.

46 Chris Carter ARI 1B B- 1.128 OPS in July. There's no question he can hit, but where does he wind up defensively?

23 Carlos Carrasco PHI SP B Has a 4.08 ERA in AA thanks to a 31:26 K:BB. Just turned 20 in March though.

29 Josh Outman PHI SP B AA debut didn't go so well (4 ER, 6 BB in 4.2 IP), but still has that great last name for a pitcher.

30 Jamie Garcia STL SP B 1.80 ERA and 18:9 K:BB over last three starts (18 IP). Still needs to lower 3.9 BB/9 rate.

31 Henry Sosa SF SP B 2.67 ERA in last 6 High-A starts and a 19:4 K:BB in his last 3. Like to see the 4.1 BB/9 come down.

35 Chris Volstad FLA SP B Very nice AA debut: 7 2/3 IP, 7 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K. K/I up over last year - 0.74 vs. 0.65.
