Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - July 17, 2008

David Regan

American League

10 Chris Davis TEX 1B A- .259 with 6 HR in 58 at-bats.
That kind of power could keep him around for awhile.

12 Mike Moustakas KC SS A- .304/.380/.478 since his
ASB in an otherwise disappointing full-season debut.

14 Austin Jackson NYY OF A- .339 in July. Some think he could win OF job out of spring training next year.

15 Brandon Wood LAA 3B
A- .259 in July but surprisingly good 9:11 K:BB. Maybe there's still some hope here.

17 Tim Beckham TAM SS A- Just .176 in 51 at-bats in pro debut but now is not the time to panic.

2 David Price TAM SP A 10 GS: 8-0, 1.63 ERA, 59:17 K:BB in 60 2/3 innings.Tempted to put him #1.

4 Neftali Feliz TEX SP A 4.09 ERA in 2 AA starts. Hopefully the Rangers don't ruin him by promoting him too fast.

5 Rick Porcello DET SP A Hit hard in last start but ERA still fine at 2.97. 5.1 K/9 should increase in 2nd half.

7 Trevor Cahill OAK SP A- 4-0, 2.14 ERA in four AA appearances (1 in relief). 10.1 K/9 and .166 AVG against for the year.

11 Gio Gonzalez OAK SP A- Last 4 GS: 0.95 ERA and 34:11 K:BB in 28 1/3 innings. He's getting close to joining the A's.

National League

9 Jason Heyward ATL OF A- Just 1 HR since May but he's the total package - 14-of-15 in SB chances.

13 Matt Gamel MIL 3B A- .327 in July but just 2 HR since May. Still, LaPorta trade opens things up a bit for Gamel.

20 Ian Stewart COL 3B B+ .276 in July and 4 HR give him 22 overall on the year. Could move to OF if Holliday is traded.

28 Fernando Martinez NYM OF B .277 in July though with 4 HR and 5 SB on the year, fantasy upside may be limited for awhile.

31 Michael Burgess WAS OF B .293 with 3 HR and impressive 14:10 K:BB in July. 65.4% CT% is the number to watch here.

16 Madison Bumgarner SF SP A- 3 ER last time out was first time since April he'd allowed that many runs in a game.

33 Jordan Zimmerman WAS SP B 1.29 ERA in July after a so-so June. Might get a look late this year if he keeps that up.

34 Chris Volstad FLA SP B Dodgers aren't the '27 Yankees, but 8 2/3 innings, one run is still mighty impressive.

36 Daryl Thompson CIN SP B May not be back until September assuming Homer Bailey or Josh Fogg can hold the five slot down.

37 Colin Balester WAS SP B 5.87 ERA in three starts so he'll need to pick it up quickly to stay with Nats.
