Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - September 3, 2009

David Regan

This is the last of the prospect updates for 2009, so I hope you enjoyed the future. As always, feel free to email me with comments/suggestions: dregan@fantistics.com

American League

28 Lars Anderson BOS 1B B+ Not that great before the ASB, then hits a miserable .165 in 121 at-bats after it. Terrible year.

29 Austin Jackson NYY OF B+ Just .205 in last 10 games. Could compete for CF job in the spring, but he won't just be handed it.

30 Jemile Weeks OAK 2B B+ .323 in last 10 games and for the year, a .287/.368/.448. Could be a 15 homer 25 SB guy.

31 Ben Revere MIN OF B+ .333 in last 10 games brings him up to .306/.366/.364 w/ 44 SB. No power, but can get on base & run.

32 Aaron Hicks MIN OF B Impressive 13.5% BB%, but .242 AVG indicates tools will take time to develop. No surprise there.

19 Michael Bowden BOS SP B+ 2.00 ERA in last three starts in AAA. Should see him in BOS (bullpen?) this month.

20 Mike Montgomery KC SP B+ Just 1 HR in 97.1 IP helps his 2.40 ERA. 80:35 K:BB in 97.1 IP.

21 Matt Moore TAM SP B+ 4.2 IP, 10 K last time out gives him a 12.8 K/9 to go with a .198 BAA. Underrated prospect.

22 Tim Melville KC SP B+ Command issues at times (4.1 BB/9) but 4.00 ERA and 8.8 K/9 = successful first full season.

32 Dan Hudson CHW SP B 7 BB in last 3 GS is uncharacteristic for a guy with a 161:33 K:BB in 144.1 IP.

National League

17 Donovan Tate SD OF A- Will debut in 2010 after Padres went over slot for #3 overall pick. Huge upside type guy.

18 Josh Vitters CHC 3B A- .184 in last 10 games and juste .230 in 44 games in High-A. Should conquer that level in 2010.

19 Logan Morrison FLA 1B A- Will debut next year most likely and compete for Opening Day 2011 starting 1B job and win it.

20 Dominic Brown PHI OF A- .902 OPS and 22 SB for a guy with top-10 talent. 20 HR, 30 SB potential.

21 Brandon Allen ARI 1B B+ .250/.314/.438 and has the lead on 2010 1B job, though may have some veteran competition.

43 Lance Lynn STL SP B 1.66 ERA in his last 10 starts and 2.85 for the year with 115:54 K:BB in 142 IP.

44 Shelby Miller STL SP B Assigned to Low-A Quad

Cities, but yet to appear in a game. 2009 first rounder.

45 Aaron Miller LAD SP B Dodgers top pick in '09 sports a 1.65 ERA and 34:8 K:BB in 27.1 innings in the Midwest league.

48 Jenrry Mejia NYM SP B 9 ER in 13 IP since returning from finger injury. Probably just needs time.

49 Travis Wood CIN SP B Back in top 50 courtesy of a 1.77 ERA. Reds need to try this guy at some point this year.
