Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - June 2, 2011

David Regan

Note: this is just a sampling of he 70+ prospect updates you get each week as a subscriber.

National League

1 Bryce Harper WAS OF A+ .184 in last 10 games to finish May with a .921 OPS for the month.

26 Grant Green OAK SS B+ Big concern is the 2 HR after he bashed 20 a year ago. .38 EYE not great either.

28 Dee Gordon LAD SS B+ .347 OBP and 19 SB. Furcal a pending F/A, but Gordon won't be handed the job.

29 Jaff Decker SD OF B+ Just .170 with 2 HR in May, but did have 17 BB. We'll see how June goes.

50 Jonathan Villar HOU SS B BB% up from 7% to 13% year over year. Already 20 SB but won't offer much power.

1 Julio Teheran ATL SP A Hit hard for 5 runs on Memorial Day, but he'll turn it around, and quick.

2 Shelby Miller STL SP A 13.8 K/9 in A+ gets him the well-deserved promotion. On track for 2012 debut.

17 Matt Harvey NYM SP B+ 7-3-0-0-1-10 in his last start was best one yet. 2.50 ERA and 62:18 K:BB in 54 innings.

19 Rubby De La Rosa LAD SP B+ Has really looked good out of the bullpen, but have to think LA prefers him as a SP.

30 Jarrod Parker ARI SP B 3.81 ERA in May was a big step forward over April's 9.00, but still a ways to go.

American League

3 Jesus Montero NYY C A .263/.330/.364 in May, so he's not exactly making the Posada decision as tough as he could be.

4 Mike Moustakas KC 3B A .317/.381/.529 in May after a slow April, so he could be bucking for a promotion very soon.

37 Aaron Hicks MIN OF B .325 in last 10 games and scouts wondering if he'll ever match tools with production.

48 Christian Colon KC SS B With a .608 OPS, he's shown nothing to deserve being picked #4 overall.

49 Jemile Weeks OAK 2B B .337 in May but just 3 XBH for the entire month and at 5'9", he's far from projectible.

5 Jacob Turner DET SP A- 8 K in each of last 2 GS - 2.67 ERA in May and has been very consistent.

6 Martin Perez TEX SP A- 0.68 ERA in last four starts and looking like he can help Rangers later this year.

7 Manny Banuelos NYY SP A- Not a fan of the 5.0 BB/9, but he's always had good control, so this is probably just temporary.

8 Jake Odorizzi KC SP A- Spectacular year - 2.31 ERA, 66:12 K:BB in 46.2 innings. AA has to be coming soon.

49 Taijuan Walker SEA SP B 30 K in 22.1 IP for last year's first round pick.
