Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - April12, 2012

David Regan

Hitters

31 Mason Williams NYY OF B+ Two doubles in debut. .863 OPS and 28 SB in just 68 games a year ago.

32 Jonathan Singleton HOU 1B B+ 4-for-16 to start AA career. Hopefully a big part of Houston's future.

33 Rymer Liriano SD OF B+ MVP of Midwest league - .383 OBP, 12 HR, 65 SB. Yeah nice fantasy upside there.

34 Oscar Taveras STL OF B+ 1.028 OPS in Low-A last year gets him skipped right to AA in 2012.

36 Christian Bethancourt ATL C B Has seemingly been overmatched at every level. Off to a 3-for-17 start in AA.

37 Brandon Jacobs BOS OF B .303/.376/.505 last year in A+. Former two-sport guy starting to develop now.

39 Anthony Gose TOR OF B Off to a slow start, but 16 HR and 70 SB last year gives him plenty of fantasy upside.

41 Chelsor Cuthbert KC 3B B Off to a 2-for-12 start. Solid upside, but will take time to develop.

45 Joe Panik SF SS B Could be future leadoff guy with 10 HR, 30 SB, and .360 OBP.

48 Tommy Joseph SF C B 2-for-20 to kick off AA career. Has the potential to shift Posey to 1b eventually.

Pitchers

27 Mike Montgomery KC SP B+ 10 baserunners in 4.1 innings in first start, so big league debut will have to wait...a while.

29 Drew Smyly DET SP B Roughed up a bit in AAA outing this week, so proceed with caution.

32 Wily Peralta MIL SP B 6-4-1-1-1-4 in his first AAA start of the year and will be ready when an opening arises.

34 Jeurys Familia NYM SP B 3 BB in 4.2 innings, so control still a concern. Needs to refine that to progress.

37 Sonny Gray OAK SP B Rocky first start (5-6-4-4-3-4), but has the stuff and poise to be in the big leagues later this year.

40 Addison Reed CHW RP B 2.1 scoreless through 3 games, but nowhere near the 9th inning yet.

41 Nathan Eovaldi LAD SP B 5-4-1-1-2-4 in first start of 2012. He'll be ready when needed in LA.

42 Neil Ramirez TEX SP B Dealt with sore shoulder this spring, but 6 K in 4 IP in first start of the year.

43 Alex Meyer WAS SP B 6'9" 1st rounder opens with a 5-2-0-0-0-4 effort. Could move quickly.

45 Jose Fernandez MIA SP B 10 strikeouts in impressive 2012 debut. Young and very projectable.

This is just a sample of the more than 70 prospect notes we publish each week for subscribers.
