Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - May 31, 2012

David Regan

Hitters

2 Billy Hamilton CIN SS A 12 SB in a recent 6-game run gives him 52 in 47 G with a .389 OBP. Free Billy!

3 Wil Myers KC OF A 1.034 OPS in first 12 AAA games. Playing some 3B to give him versatility.

4 Miguel Sano MIN 3B A .128 AVG in last 10 games but OPS still solid at .874.

5 Manny Machado BAL SS A .743 OPS far from spectacular, but you don't often see teenagers in AA.

6 Jurickson Profar TEX SS A .929 OPS in May lifts overall line to .299/.365/.510 with 7 SB.

7 Anthony Rizzo CHC 1B A- 1.128 OPS with 17 HR but LaHair keeping him in AAA with his gaudy numbers.

8 Willie Middlebrooks BOS 3B A- 29:4 K:BB is a minor concern, but he did also post a 0.21 EYE in the minors last year.

9 Nolan Arenado COL 3B A- .302 in May, but oddly a 14:1 K:BB. Overall - .305/.346/.432.

12 Nick Castellanos DET 3B A- .398 in April and .429 in May so far. Just 3 HR, but those will come in time.

13 Michael Choice OAK OF A- .603 OPS in May. May have to drop him down qutie a bit on this list list despite 2011 OPS of .918.

Pitchers

1 Dylan Bundy BAL SP A+ Promoted to A+ and allows first 2 runs of the year in 5 IP.

2 Trevor Bauer ARI SP AAA 1.89 ERA through first three AAA starts.24:10 K:BB in 19 innings.

3 Shelby Miller STL SP AAA 15 hits in 9 IP in last 2 starts, but still in line for a debut later this year.

4 Tyler Skaggs ARI SP AA 1.17 ERA in 5 May starts and a 2.72 mark for the year.

5 Jameson Taillon PIT SP A+ 1.46 ERA in April, 4.94 in May, so he's scuffling a bit. Upside remains very big.

6 Gerrit Cole PIT SP A+ 1.64 ERA in May and a 46:13 K:BB in 45 innings on the year.

7 Archie Bradley ARI SP A- 4.13 ERA in May after a great April. 51:29 K:BB in 50 innings for the year.

8 Jake Odorizzi KC SP AAA 3.24 ERA through first 3 AAA starts. Very close to big league debut.

9 Julio Teheran ATL SP AAA Really scuffling lately, and could be bypassed if Braves need a starter soon.

10 Drew Pomeranz COL SP AAA Pretty ugly start last time out. Hard to believe he's not one of organization's top 5 SP's.

This is just a sample of the more than 70 prospect notes we publish each week for subscribers.
