Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - June 14, 2012

David Regan

Lots of changes this week as 2012 draftees have started signing and we saw Jorge Soler ink a monster deal with the Cubs.

Hitters

20 Jorge Soler CHC OF B+ High-risk / high-reward type of guy, but the Cubs needed young talent.

23 Oscar Taveras STL OF B+ Skipped A+ ball this year and is still hitting - .322/.374/.579.

24 Xander Bogaerts BOS SS B+ .370 with 4 HR already in June. Probably winds up in the outfield.

25 Mike Olt TEX 3B B+ .395 with 8 HR in first 10 games of June. Just what the Rangers need, another slugger.

28 Mason Williams NYY OF B+ .419 in first 7 games in June. 16 SB on the year and could be team's CF in a few years.

29 Byron Buxton MIN OF B+ #2 overall pick has a huge set of tools, but now can he translate those into numbers?

31 Carlos Correa HOU SS B+ Sweet swing, projectable, and solid defender. Could grow out of SS in time.

32 George Springer HOU OF B+ .910 OPS with 12 HR and 13 SB. Astros future looking good.

33 Anthony Gose TOR OF B 16 HR last year and just 3 in 2012. .365 OBP and 24 SB..future leadoff man?

38 Ryan Lavarnway BOS C B Just 1 HR in May but .370 with 2 HR in first 7 games in June.

Pitchers

20 Kyle Zimmer KC SP R 2012 5th overall pick could move fast given lofty draft status and polish.

23 Zach Lee LAD SP A+ 1.50 ERA in 12 June innings after missing a couple weeks for an unknown reason.

26 Jesse Biddle PHI SP A+ 4 runs in last start in just 3 IP, but also 6 K's. 70:21 K:BB in 60.1 IP this year though.

27 Dellin Betances NYY SP AAA 56 BB in 57 innings and control still not getting any better.

28 Martin Perez TEX SP AAA 5.37 ERA and though he's young, the results warrant dropping him on this list.

29 Mike Montgomery KC SP AAA Really hasn't had a great start since April. Regressing each week it seems.

32 Brad Peacock OAK SP AAA 6.41 ERA in May and a 4.50 ERA in 2 Junst starts, so not knocking on the door yet.

34 Taylor Jungmann MIL SP A+ Just 7 K's and 13 runs in his last 16.2 innings, so he's scuffling.

38 Noah Syndergaard TOR SP A- Scuffling lately, but 51:13 K:BB in 39.2 innings is impressive.

39 Sonny Gray OAK SP AA A disappointment so far - 6 ER in 2.2 innings in last start. 34:26 K:BB in 56.1 IP overall.

This is just a sample of the more than 70 prospect notes we publish each week for subscribers.
