Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - July 8, 2010

David Regan

American League

5 Desmond Jennings TB OF A Hits first HR on 6/29. .371 OBP and 20 SB and likely Crawford's 2011 replacement.

6 Mike Trout LAA OF A Only hitting .350 in July to knock him down to .364/.447/.533 w/ 41 SB. Not bad.

8 Mike Moustakas KC 3B A Just .237 in last 10 games, but 2 HR Monday and a 1.092 OPS overall.

16 Michael Taylor OAK OF B+ .278 in June is an improvement, but a 6'6" guy with just 3 HR in the PCL? Odd.

18 Aaron Hicks MIN OF B+ 71.6% CT% is the big issue, but he has a .372 OBP and 11 steals. 20-25 HR potential.

2 Jeremy Hellickson TB SP A Rebounds from rough outing with 6 scoreless on Monday. Maybe Rays use him as RP?

7 Kyle Drabek TOR SP A Nine-inning no-hitter on July
4. Very patriotic and it puts him firmly in line for a callup in the next month.

10 Jacob Turner DET SP A- Shelled in his first 2 A+ starts, but did strike out seven in 7.1 innings.

15 Martin Perez TEX SP A- Last 4 GS: 2 scoreless efforts sandwiched by 2 poor outings.68:38 K:BB in 64.1 innings.

18 Jake Arrieta BAL SP A- 13:16 K:BB is a red flag, but give him time to settle in. Future #3 level starter.

National League

35 Bobby Borchering ARI 3B B .318 in six games in July. Midwest League is a tough place to hit, so take that into account.

36 Jose Tabata PIT OF B .245/.311/.340 1 HR in 94 at-bats. 6 SB helps fantasy value, and 0.60 EYE isn't bad either.

37 Drew Cumberland SD SS B Not quite as good so far in AA: .325/.349/.350 but still a breakout year overall.

40 Jiovanni Mier HOU SS B Celebrated July 4 with his first HR of the year. Batting just .229, but 0.69 EYE gives us some hope.

43 Devin Mesoraco CIN C B Still hitting well - .343 in last 10 games and a .980 OPS on the year.

5 Madison Bumgarner SF SP A Loses first 2 GS, but 10:2 K:BB in 14 IP indicates better things are ahead.

11 Tyler Matzek COL SP A- Pretty impressive overall with a 2.41 ERA. 8:1 K:BB last time out is a nice improvement for his BB/9.

14 Mike Minor ATL SP A- Impressive AAA debut: 7.2-3-1-1-3-9. Throwing a bit harder this year as well.

16 Shelby Miller STL SP A- 1.35 ERA in last 4 outings and an 11.9 K/9 on the year for 2009 first round pick.

23 Drew Storen WAS RP B+ Reportedly could move into the 8th inning slot, with closing a possibility should Capps get dealt.
