Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - August 4, 2011

David Regan

The big news in the prospect world this week is Arizona signing No. 3 overall pick Trevor Bauer. Bauer joins Jarrod Parker and Tyler Skaggs to give the Dbacks arguably the best three-pack of pitching prospects in the game. Mix in the MLB debut of Paul Goldschmidt this week and hte future is looking bright in the desert.

Now for a small sampling of this week's updates...

National League

1 Bryce Harper WAS OF A+ Just .238 in 80 AA at-bats, so probably time to drop him off list...kidding.
11 Paul Goldschmidt ARI 1B A- .306 with 30 HR and now takes his talents to Phoenix, AZ as a starting first baseman.
13 Brett Jackson CHC OF B+ 4 HR in 68 AAA at-bats. .828 OPS with 14 HR and 18 SB on the year.
18 Jonathan Singleton HOU 1B B+ .288/.389/.420. Needs to show more power to fulfill Houston's expectations.
19 Billy Hamilton CIN SS B+ .333/.406/.421 with 20 steals in July to give him 75 on the year.
26 Casey Kelly SD SP B 2 ER or less in 5 of last 6 starts. 6 ER in the other. .291 AVG against.
28 Randall Delgado ATL SP B Gets AAA promotion. Nice rotation the Braves have in AAA.
47 Jesse Biddle PHI SP B- 3.18 ERA and 8.9 K/9 in first full year for 2010 1st round pick. Could rise up list quickly.
49 Chad James FLA SP B 1.52 ERA in last 4 GS, so might see AA by year's end. Still just 20.
50 Nathan Eovaldi LAD SP B Reportedly getting consideration for promotion to LA given De La Rosa's injury.

American League

2 Mike Trout LAA OF A+ Back in AA after other Angels OF's started getting healthy. Should be starting OF in 2012.
3 Jesus Montero NYY C A .359 with 3 HR in last 10 games and reportedly nearing a callup...maye.
5 Manny Machado BAL SS A .368 in last 10 games, so he's officially adjusted to High-A pitching.
9 Brett Lawrie TOR 2B A- .342 in last 10 games and 1.065 OPS on the year. Should be in TOR any day.
10 Dustin Ackley SEA 2B A- .929 OPS and will drop off this last next week. M's have a keeper here.
5 Jacob Turner DET SP A- Looked very polished and poised in one-shot MLB start.
6 Jake Odorizzi KC SP A- 4.46 ERA in 6 AA starts. 4 BB in last start. Probably just needs to gain confidence.
21 Mike Montgomery KC SP B+ 4.28 ERA in July was best month since April, but still a disappointing year.
33 Alexander Torres TB SP B 1.37 ERA in July but still need to see control improve. 7 BB in last 2 GS.
45 Chris Dwyer KC SP B This is nice to see: 2 GS, 15 IP, 2 ER, 14:2 K:BB. 91:64 K:BB on the year.
