Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - May 3, 2007

David Regan

American League

1 Alex Gordon KC 3B A+ He's walking more lately, but just not making enough solid contact. Patience is advised.

2 Delmon Young TAM OF A+ Slow start....707 OPS and 20/4 K/BB suggest a breakout may not come this year.

3 Brandon Wood LAA 3B A 1-for-8 with the Angels in his cup of coffee. He'll be back later in the year.

6 Billy Butler KC OF A- Singled off Bartolo Colon in his first MLB at-bat, going 2-for-4 on the night. Temporary stay though?

7 Evan Longoria TAM 3B A- .300/.439/.533, 19/20 K/BB and five HR already. Could probably hit in majors now.

1 Phil Hughes NYY SP A+ Hamstring injury cost him a chance at a no-hitter and he could be out 4-6 weeks. Ouch.

4 Adam Miller CLE SP A 13 shutout innings in last two starts lowered ERA from 4.00 to 2.32. 30/11 K/BB in 31 IP so far.

5 Matt Garza MIN SP A Improving in each start. ERA down to 2.88, but 15/2 K/BB last two starts after 12/9 in first three.

7 Andrew Miller DET SP A- Still adjusting to a new arm motion. That could explain 4.76 ERA.

8 Nick Adenhart LAA SP A- May move way up this list soon. 0.80 ERA and 27/10 K/BB in 33 2/3 innings.

National League

4 Justin Upton ARI OF A Homered in 5 consecutive games. 22/16 K/BB, 7 SBs, 1.056. Breakout season is here.

5 Chris Young ARI OF A Much better results from Young lately. K/AB rate is solid at 15% and he's stolen 3 bases.

8 Carlos Gonzalez ARI OF A- .350 in his last five games. He's coming around and could explode at any moment.

10 Troy Tulowitzki COL SS A- Noticable improvement now that he's hitting in the #2 slot in the lineup.

11 Hunter Pence HOU OF A- Replaces Chris Burke in CF. He's most likely up to stay barring a Kouzmanoff-like batting average.

2 Tim Lincecum SF SP A Ho-hum, 14 more K's in his last start. 46/11 K/BB and 0.29 ERA in 31 IP. Call up imminent.

3 Homer Bailey CIN SP A Turns 21 on Thurs. 1.98 ERA is solid, but 18/13 K/BB shows there's work to be done still.

6 Mike Pelfrey NYM SP A Redeemed himself in last start. Might stick around after all.

9 Yovani Gallardo MIL SP A- Deep MIL rotation keeps him in minors for now despite 42/8 K/BB in 30 IP. He's even hitting .429.

11 Clayton Kershaw LAD SP A- Walks are his only flaw right now. 1.08 ERA and 35/15 K/BB in 25 innings.
