Prospect Spreadsheet Updates - April 19, 2007

David Regan

An abbreviated look at this week's Prospect Spreadsheet Updates:

TOP 50 HITTING PROSPECTS

From the AL:

1 Alex Gordon KC 3B A+ - Very slow start, but he did hit his first big-league home run. I don't see Triple-A in his future.

2 Delmon Young TAM OF A+ - Neck and neck with Dice-K for April AL ROY honors right now. All-Star this year?

5 Billy Butler KC OF A- - Just turned 21 on Wednesday, but bat is big league ready now.

6 Evan Longoria TAM 3B A- - Just .219 over last 10 games, but hot start leaves him at .300/.431/.575 with a 7/9 K/BB.

11 Cameron Maybin DET OF A- - .393 with four homers in last eight games after an 0-for-11 start.

From the NL:

4 Chris Young ARI OF A - May be in danger of losing some at-bats to Scott Hairston due to his slow start.

7 Justin Upton ARI OF - A Slow start gets him moved down 2 notches here, but could explode at any moment.

8 Carlos Gonzalez ARI OF A- - Three hits one day (Sunday), 0-for-5 the next. Inconsistency has him at .184, but he'll be fine.

9 Andy LaRoche LAD 3B A- - Slow start, but four-game hit streak gets AVG up to .227. 4/5 K/BB in encouraging also.

10 Troy Tulowitzki COL SS A- - Impressive in the field, but offense isn't quite there yet. Will develop into a .290-15-70 guy though.

TOP 50 PITCHING PROSPECTS

From the AL:

1 Phil Hughes NYY SP A+ - Slow start in Triple-A, but his six scoreless innings, 10-strikeout effort Wednesday shows his talent.

7 Andrew Miller DET SP A- - Zero ER in 8 IP in his start this week. Could be in DET rotation by May or June.

8 Nick Adenhart LAA SP A- - Has allowed one run in first two starts, but needs to cut down on the walks (five in 11.1 IP).

9 Luke Hochevar KC SP A- - 6.14 ERA in first two starts, but 7.2-2-0-0-0-11 on Tuesday.

12 Jeff Niemann TAM SP B+ - 1.80 ERA and 13/3 K/BB in two starts. He's probably ready to help TB now.

From the NL:

2 Homer Bailey CIN SP A - Emergence of Belisle and Bailey's 6 BB in 10.1 IP will leave him in AAA for now.

5 Tim Lincecum SF SP A- - Video game numbers: 3 starts, 18.2 IP, 9 H, 0 ER, 5 BB, 28 K. That's 1.5 K/I.

6 Mike Pelfrey NYM SP A - Now has 13/12 K/BB as a big leaguer. Success will come when command improves.

10 Clayton Kershaw LAD SP A- - 5-1-0-0-3-7 in second start is an improvement over six-walk first outing.

15 Franklin Morales COL SP B+ - Has command issues as his weakness, but a 9/1 K/BB (12 IP) so far. Nice sleeper.
